The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the activation of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) portal for the online capturing and uploading of candidates’ school selection data for the 2026 school placement exercise.
According to a directive issued by the Ghana Education Service and dated 24 August 2026, Heads of Junior High Schools (JHSs) are expected to complete the uploading of candidates’ school choices through the designated WAEC portal within the stipulated period.
WAEC School Selection Portal Open for 2026 Placement
The WAEC school selection portal for the 2026 placement exercise is scheduled to be available from Monday, 24 August to Thursday, 27 August 2026.
The portal identified by the Ghana Education Service for the exercise is: cass.waecinternetsolution.org
The activation of the portal is intended to enable schools to capture and submit the school choices of eligible candidates as part of preparations for the 2026 Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).
Heads of JHSs Directed to Complete School Selection Uploads
The Ghana Education Service has directed Headteachers who have not yet completed the uploading of candidates’ school choices on the CSSPS portal for the pre-testing exercise to complete that process by the close of work on Monday, 24 August 2026.
After completing the required pre-testing activity, the schools are expected to proceed with the capturing and uploading of the relevant candidates’ school selection data on the WAEC portal.
The directive is particularly important for schools that are yet to finalise their candidates’ preferred schools for the 2026 SHS placement exercise.
Same School Login Can Be Used on Multiple Computers
One of the key features highlighted by the Ghana Education Service is that the WAEC portal permits the same school ID and password to be used simultaneously on multiple computers.
This arrangement is expected to benefit schools with large numbers of candidates. By allowing multiple computers to access the system concurrently, schools can capture and upload candidates’ school selection information more efficiently.
The Ghana Education Service says the facility is intended to support the timely and efficient completion of the 2026 school selection and placement exercise.
Schools Must Verify and Submit Candidates’ Data
The directive also places emphasis on the accuracy and completeness of candidates’ information.
Metro, Municipal and District Directors of Education, together with Examination Coordinators, have been directed to closely supervise and monitor the exercise. Their responsibility includes ensuring that the data of all eligible candidates are properly captured, verified and submitted within the specified period.
This verification stage is important because errors or incomplete information during school selection could affect the processing of candidates’ placement information.
Schools are therefore expected to carefully review candidates’ school choices and other relevant selection data before completing the submission process.
Regional Education Directors to Ensure Compliance
Regional Directors of Education have also been requested to communicate the directive to all relevant schools and stakeholders within their respective jurisdictions.
They are expected to ensure strict compliance with the instructions and the stated deadlines for the 2026 school placement school selection and uploading exercise.
The directive forms part of the Ghana Education Service’s preparations for the smooth implementation of the 2026 Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).

2026 School Placement Exercise
The activation of the WAEC portal represents an important stage in the preparations for the 2026 Ghana school placement exercise. The process is designed to ensure that candidates’ selected schools are properly captured before the information is processed for placement.
Schools with large numbers of candidates can also take advantage of the portal’s multiple-computer access feature to speed up data entry and submission.
The Ghana Education Service has consequently urged education officials and schools to treat the exercise with the necessary urgency and ensure that all eligible candidates’ school selection data are captured, verified and submitted within the stipulated timeframe.
Final Reminder
All Heads of Junior High Schools concerned with the 2026 school placement exercise are expected to take note of the WAEC portal activation period from Monday, 24 August to Thursday, 27 August 2026.
