The excitement and anticipation were at an all-time high as the semifinal contests for the Eastern Regional Championship of the National Science and Maths Quiz took place.
After a thrilling quarterfinal round, six schools had emerged victorious and secured their spots in the semifinals. The stage was set as these schools vied for a place in the highly anticipated final contest.
The six qualifying schools were divided into two groups, with three schools competing in each contest. The top two schools from each group would advance to the final contest, along with the highest-scoring semifinal runner-up. The stakes were high, and the participants were ready to give it their all.
Contest 1
In the first contest, Pope John SHS & Minor Seminary scored an impressive 46 points. Their performance was truly commendable, leaving their competitors in awe. Abuakwa State College, though putting up a valiant effort, managed to secure 20 points. Yilo Krobo SHS, while displaying enthusiasm and determination, accumulated a total of 6 points.
Contest 2
The second contest was equally intense, with St. Peter’s SHS taking the lead and securing a remarkable 47 points. Nifa SHS, determined to secure a spot in the final contest, amassed 28 points. Ofori Panin SHS, despite their best efforts, managed to secure 13 points.
As the dust settled and the scores were tallied, the three schools that emerged victorious and secured their spots in the final contest were Pope John SHS & Minor Seminary, St. Peter’s SHS, and Nifa SHS.
A noteworthy mention goes to Nifa SHS, who secured their spot in the final contest as the highest-scoring semifinal runner-up. Their perseverance and impressive display of knowledge propelled them into the highly coveted final round.
The stage is now set for the final contest of the Eastern Regional Championship. Pope John SHS & Minor Seminary, St. Peter’s SHS, and Nifa SHS will go head-to-head in a battle that will determine the ultimate champion.
