Dr. Eric Nkansah, Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), actively participated in a two-day workshop on September 4th and 5th, 2024, as part of the Ghana Education Service Workforce Initiative (GESWI). The workshop focused on presenting the Strategic Workforce Planning (SWP)/Skills Assessment Report.

The event served as a platform for staff to provide crucial input into the SWP report, which will play a key role in shaping the recommendations for the Strategic Workforce Planning component of the GESWI programme.

During the workshop, Dr. Nkansah also took the opportunity to engage with leadership from various Teacher Unions as part of a review and validation process for the Scheme of Service document. The workshop, organized by GES management with support from PwC Ghana, aimed to ensure that the Scheme of Service is carefully structured to meet the evolving needs of the workforce.

The Scheme of Service will provide a comprehensive framework that outlines the various job roles, responsibilities, career progression paths, and criteria for career advancement for different staff categories within the GES. It will also define the necessary skills and competencies for each role, ensuring that the workforce aligns with the GES’s new organizational structure and strategic goals. This alignment is expected to facilitate a smooth transition within the organization while helping employees navigate their professional development more effectively.
