The Ghana Education Service (GES) has addressed concerns raised by teachers regarding the substantive dates applicable to the 2025 teacher promotion.
According to an official GES statement dated 18th August 2026, management engaged the leadership of teacher unions to discuss concerns surrounding the substantive dates for the 2025 teacher promotion exercise.
GES Engages Teacher Unions Over 2025 Promotion Date
The engagement involved the management of the Ghana Education Service and the leadership of teacher unions. The discussions focused specifically on concerns raised by teachers regarding the dates that should be considered substantive for the 2025 GES teacher promotion.
The issue is significant for teachers who participated in or were affected by the 2025 promotion process, particularly those awaiting clarity on how the applicable substantive dates will affect their promotion status.
Has GES Released the Final Substantive Date?
As of the date of the statement, GES had not announced a final substantive date in the letter.
Instead, GES management stated that it had taken note of the concerns raised by the teacher unions and would engage further with them to look into the matter.
This means teachers should be cautious about relying on unofficial dates circulating on social media or other platforms until an official determination is communicated by the Ghana Education Service.
GES Promises Further Engagement
The official statement indicates that management intends to continue discussions with the teacher unions to find a solution to the concerns surrounding the 2025 teacher promotion substantive dates.
GES further stated that it remains committed to an amicable settlement of the matter.
The development therefore suggests that consultations are still ongoing, with teachers expected to await further communication from the appropriate authorities.
