In a heart-wrenching incident that has left a community in mourning, a junior high school teacher met an untimely end while riding his motorbike on the Agona Nkwanta-Takoradi Highway in the Western Region of Ghana.
The tragic incident occurred on the morning of Tuesday, October 3, and has shaken the lives of those who knew him.
The teacher, Emmanuel Ntonah, aged 30, taught at Santiaw near Agona Nkwanta in the Ahanta West District. He and his wife had returned to their ancestral village, Komfoeku, in the Shama District, to spend the holiday together. Little did they know that this fateful day would change their lives forever.
Emmanuel had plans to report to school on the first day of reopening, and he intended to pick up his wife later. However, tragedy struck in the morning when he was reportedly hit by a speeding Sprinter bus coming from the opposite direction. The impact of the collision was fatal, claiming his life instantly.
The news of Emmanuel’s demise shattered the heart of his wife, Eunice Ntonah, who narrated the devastating incident to Connect FM‘s Omanbapa morning show host, Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson.
Eunice expressed her deep sorrow and disbelief at the sudden loss of her husband. She shared how they had been residing in the same community and had returned to their hometown for the holiday, never expecting that it would be the last time they would be together.
As the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident continues, Emmanuel Ntonah’s mortal remains have been laid to rest at a private morgue at Apimanim. The community, as well as his colleagues and students, mourn the loss of a dedicated teacher and a beloved member of their community.
Eunice Ntonah, his grieving wife, awaits official information about the details of the accident that claimed her husband’s life. As she tries to come to terms with this tragic loss, she reflects on the fact that December would have marked their one-year anniversary as a married couple. Instead, she finds herself grappling with the unimaginable pain of losing her partner and soulmate.
The Agona Nkwanta-Takoradi Highway, like many other roads, serves as a lifeline for countless commuters in Ghana. Tragic incidents like this one serve as a stark reminder of the need for improved road safety measures and the importance of adhering to traffic regulations to prevent such devastating accidents in the future.
Emmanuel Ntonah’s memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched through his teaching and in the fond memories shared with his loved ones. As the community mourns, they also hope for answers and justice in the investigation into this heartbreaking accident.
