The preliminary stage competition of the National Science and Maths Quiz Championship has commenced on Friday, October 6, 2023 and many are left confused because they do not see their favorite school in the prelims contest schedule.
If you are one of such individuals and you are reading this, then you are poised to get better understanding of what a seeded school in the National Science and Maths Quiz is.
In the NSMQ, a Seeded School is simply a school that sailed through to the quarter-finals in the previous year’s National Championship competition. What this implies is that, all the schools that won their one-eighth stage contest in last year’s competition automatically qualify as a seeded school for this year.
These schools await their competitors at the one-eighth stage of the competition after the prelims stage contests have been concluded and winners have emerged. They are then grouped together for the next round of the competition.
It is worth noting that there are twenty-seven seeded schools from last year’s NSMQ National Championship that are waiting to be paired with schools that will qualify from the prelims stage.
The relieving thing about being a seeded school in the NSMQ is that, as other schools battle their way from the various regional championship competition, the seeded schools just await them in the National championship.
