The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially extended the deadline for the 2025 teacher promotion application process. Originally set to close on Thursday, 2nd October 2025, the new deadline is now Thursday, 9th October 2025. This extension provides applicants with an additional week to complete and submit their applications.
Application Period and Updated Deadline
The application portal for the 2025 teacher promotion exercise was opened on Thursday, 11th September 2025, and will now remain open until the new closing date of Thursday, 9th October 2025. The GES emphasized that no applications will be accepted after this final deadline, urging all eligible applicants to complete the process well in advance to avoid any last-minute issues.
Available Promotion Ranks
Teachers seeking to advance in their careers can apply for promotion to the following ranks:
- Deputy Director (DD)
- Assistant Director I (ADI)
- Assistant Director II (ADII)
- Principal Superintendent (PS)
These promotions form part of the GES’s commitment to reward merit and enhance professional development within the education sector.

Required Documents for Submission
To successfully complete the application process, teachers must upload the following documents:
- A recent passport-size photograph
- Last promotion letter / appointment letter / upgrading letter
- Highest academic certificate being used for the promotion
- Ghana Card
Important: Except for the passport photograph (which can be in image format), all documents must be uploaded in PDF format.
Additionally, teachers applying with Master’s or PhD qualifications must ensure:
- The certificate was obtained in 2023 or earlier
- The programme is recognized and approved by the GES
Important Reminders
- The GES will not entertain late applications under any circumstance.
- Applicants are encouraged to submit their documents early to prevent delays caused by technical issues or high portal traffic near the deadline.
- All submissions must be made through the official application portal. No manual or email submissions will be accepted.
