The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially commenced the 2025 Teachers’ Promotion Exercise, and important updates have been issued to guide all shortlisted candidates across the country. As part of this process, the Examination Structure and Content for the 2025 GES Promotion Questions has been clearly outlined to help candidates prepare adequately ahead of the aptitude tests scheduled for late December 2025.
Current Status of the 2025 GES Promotion Exercise
The promotion process is actively underway nationwide. Index numbers have already been sent via SMS to all shortlisted applicants, detailing their Staff ID, Index Number, and designated examination centre. In addition, the complete list of shortlisted teachers has been forwarded to District and Regional Education Directorates for verification.
Candidates who have not received SMS notifications are advised to promptly check with their respective District, Municipal, Metro, or Regional Education Offices to confirm their status and details.
Examination Dates and Ranks Involved
The 2025 GES Promotion Examinations will be conducted over two days:
- Monday, 29th December 2025
Ranks: Principal Superintendent (PS) and Assistant Director II (AD II)
Time: 9:00 am – 12:00 noon - Tuesday, 30th December 2025
Ranks: Assistant Director I (AD I) and Deputy Director (DD)
Time: 9:00 am – 12:00 noon 2025
Examination Structure & Content of 2025 GES Promotion Questions
The promotion examination is designed to assess candidates’ professional knowledge, administrative competence, and understanding of educational policies and contemporary issues. Across all ranks, the examination content will cover the following core areas:

This uniform structure ensures fairness while allowing the assessment to reflect the increasing administrative and leadership responsibilities at higher ranks.
Examination Day Requirements
All candidates are required to:
- Present a valid National Identification Card at the examination centre.
- Clearly quote their Staff ID and Index Number on all examination materials.
- Arrive at the examination centre early to allow for verification and seating arrangements.
Failure to meet these requirements may result in disqualification.
Special Arrangements for Candidates with Special Needs
GES has made provisions for candidates with special needs, particularly the visually challenged. Designated centres have been allocated at:

- Presbyterian College of Education, Akropong
- Nusrat Jahan Ahmadiyya College of Education, Wa
