The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has recently announced important information regarding the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for both School and Private candidates. Among the key details revealed is the fee payable per candidate for the upcoming examination.
As per the announcement, the registration portal for candidates was opened on Monday, 11th March, 2024, and will remain accessible until Friday, 19th April, 2024. The BECE for School and Private Candidates is scheduled to take place from Monday, 8th to Friday, 12th July, 2024. WAEC emphasizes the importance of adhering to these timelines, cautioning that late entries may not be accommodated due to test security reasons.
It is noteworthy that the BECE will witness a shift in examination format due to the introduction of the common core curriculum. School Candidates will be evaluated based on this new curriculum, while Private Candidates will be examined on the old syllabus. Therefore, Private Candidates are advised to be meticulous when selecting their subjects during the registration process.
