The grand finale of the highly anticipated 68th Independence Anniversary What Do You Know? quiz competition took place today at exactly 12 noon, bringing together four talented schools—Apam SHS, Achiase SHS, Damongo SHS, and Kintampo SHS. The event, hosted on the GTV stage, was a thrilling contest that highlighted the knowledge and brilliance of Ghana’s future leaders.
From the very beginning, the competition was intense, with each school striving to secure the top spot. Apam SHS and Kintampo SHS took an early lead in the first round with seven points each, while Achiase SHS followed closely behind with three points. Damongo SHS, although struggling at the start, remained determined to make an impact.
In the second round, Apam SHS pulled ahead with an impressive 18 points, widening the gap against Achiase SHS (13 points), Kintampo SHS (10 points), and Damongo SHS (3 points). The final round saw Apam SHS solidify their dominance, finishing with 27 points to claim victory. Achiase SHS secured second place with 19 points, Kintampo SHS came in third with 14 points, and Damongo SHS ended with six points.
As champions, Apam SHS received a prestigious trophy from the Ghana Education Service (GES), a plaque from the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), and a cash prize of GH¢5,000.00 from GES. Achiase SHS, the second-place winners, were awarded a plaque from NCCE and GH¢4,000.00. Kintampo SHS, in third place, received a plaque and GH¢3,500.00, while Damongo SHS, in fourth place, took home a plaque and GH¢3,000.00.
The competition was an unforgettable experience, highlighting the intelligence, dedication, and competitive spirit of Ghana’s students. This year’s What Do You Know? quiz was a fitting celebration of Ghana’s independence, reinforcing the importance of education and civic awareness among the nation’s youth.
