The National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) has long been recognized as one of Ghana’s most prestigious academic competitions, showcasing the intellectual prowess of secondary school students.
This year, the Ashanti region is all set for an exciting showdown as schools from across the region prepare to compete in the regional championships.
With the stage set and anticipation building, let’s take a closer look at the teams that will be participating in the various contests.
Balloting Results for NSMQ 2023 Regional Championships | Ashanti Region
Contest 1
The regional championships kick off on the 30th of June 2023 with the first contest. The four schools competing in this contest are St. Hubert, Konongo Odumasi SHS, T.I. AMASS in Fomena, and Armed Forces SHTS. These schools will go head-to-head, testing their knowledge and problem-solving abilities to secure a spot in the next round.
Contest 2
On the same day, the second contest will feature Osei Tutu SHS in Akropong, SDA SHS in Agona, Wesley Girls SHS in Kumasi, and Simms SHS. These schools will bring their best minds to the stage, battling it out for a chance to advance further in the competition.
Contest 3
Continuing the excitement, the third contest is scheduled to take place on the 30th of June. SDA SHS in Bantama, Anglican SHS in Kumasi, Yaa Asantewaa SHS, and Okomfo Anokye SHS will engage in fierce competition, demonstrating their scientific knowledge and critical thinking abilities.
Contest 4
Concluding the first day of the regional championships, the fourth contest will see Kumasi High School, Kumasi SHTS, KNUST SHS, and Ejisuman SHS battle it out on the stage. These schools will showcase their expertise in science, mathematics, and general knowledge, aiming to secure a spot in the subsequent rounds.
Contest 5
The excitement continues on the 1st of July 2023 with the fifth contest. Prempeh College, T.I. AMASS in Kumasi, St. Monica’s SHS, and Nsutaman Catholic SHS will compete fiercely, displaying their academic skills to advance to the next stage of the competition.
Contest 6
In the sixth contest, Opoku Ware School, St. Louis SHS, and Amaniampong SHS will engage in a fierce battle. These schools will bring their intellectual acumen to the forefront, striving for victory in their quest for the regional championship title.
Contest 7
Concluding the preliminary rounds, the seventh contest will feature Osei Kyereywie SHS, Kumasi Academy, and Aduman SHS. These schools will put forth their best efforts, leaving no stone unturned as they compete for a place in the semi-finals.
Semi-finals
Following the preliminary rounds, the successful schools from each contest will progress to the semi-finals. A fresh balloting will take place, determining the pairings for the next stage of the competition. The intensity will continue to rise as the remaining schools battle it out for the coveted regional NSMQ championship.
The road to the regional NSMQ championship will undoubtedly be challenging, but the experience gained and the memories created will last a lifetime for the students
