In a much-anticipated announcement, the Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has finally announced the launch date for the Computerised School Selection Placement System (CSSPS) portal.
The revelation comes as a sigh of relief for parents, students, teachers, and the general public who have been eagerly awaiting this crucial information since the release of the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) provisional results by WAEC.
According to Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the CSSPS portal is set to go live within the next week, allowing over 570,000 candidates to check the Senior High School they have gained admission to.
The teaching Minister shared some insightful details, revealing that out of the 571,892 candidates eligible for placement, only 555,353 met the criteria for school placement.
In a positive turn of events, 367,811 candidates have been successfully and automatically placed into one of their preferred school choices.
However, on the flip side, a substantial number of 187,542 candidates find themselves in the position of having to undergo self-placement, as they were unable to secure a spot in any of their chosen schools.
The announcement has sparked a mix of emotions, ranging from elation for those who secured automatic placement to a sense of anticipation for those set to navigate the self-placement process.
Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum’s disclosure not only provides clarity on the timeline for accessing the CSSPS portal but also sheds light on the meticulous process of school placement.
The Minister’s commitment to transparency and efficiency in the education sector is evident, as he ensures that all stakeholders are well-informed about the status of the placement process.
The self-placement process, while presenting challenges for some, also opens doors to new opportunities and possibilities, emphasizing the importance of adaptability and resilience in the pursuit of education.
