The Management of the Ghana Education Service has released the official guidelines to be followed by teachers to be able to be granted an intra-district transfer/reposting.
An intra-district transfer/reposting refers to the transfer which is within the same district. A teacher who seeks for this transfer simply wants to be moved from his/her current school to a different one within the same district.
Being one of the easiest transfers to be approved, such transfers are mostly handled by the District Director of Education within the District from which the teacher wants to be transferred from.
In this guide, GESHub.org has outlined all the guidelines the Management of GES requires teachers to follow before an intra-district transfer/reposting will be granted to them.
Guidelines to secure GES intra-district transfer/reposting
- Step 1
All Heads of schools must declare their vacancies to their District Directors. All District Directors should forward vacancies received from the schools to their Regional Directors.
Regional Directors should forward vacancies received from the Districts to the Director of HR, GES Headquarters.
- Step 2
An Applicant writes to the District Director and attaches his/her current payslip, personal record form, certificates, bank clearance, etc. indicating his/her willingness to move from his/her current school to another school within the District.
- Step 3
The District Director issues an assurance letter or otherwise to the applicant.
Note: A teacher seeking Inter Regional reposting can only be released by the Regional Director after the Director-General has given final approval to the applicant.
