Payslip for the month of January 2023 has been released by the Controller and Accountant General’s Department for all government on Ghana workers on payroll.
A critical look at the month’s salary shows a reflection of the 30% base pay increment agreement reached by the Labour Unions and the government.
The agreement which was reached on at a meeting on January 12, 2023 at the Ministry of Health conference room at Accra indicated that;
- the base pay on the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) will be increased by 30% across board for the year 2023 at the existing pay point relativity of 1.7 percent.
- the effective date for the implementation of the 2023 base pay shall be January 1, 2023.
These terms have successfully been fulfilled by the Government of Ghana and the necessary adjustment in salary has been effected.
However, the increment in workers’ affordability which is seen any time there is salary adjustment for workers is missing.
Checks from GESHub.org can confirm that Controller and Accountant General’s Department has not made the necessary adjustment in the affordability of public sector workers.
Their affordability remains same as it was when salaries for December 2022 were paid them.
A section of workers on the government of Ghana payroll are anxious and curious as to why CAGD is delaying in rectifying this anomaly and are requesting for the necessary adjustment in their affordability to be made as soon as possible.
