The National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) 2024 has started with its preliminary stage, bringing excitement and anticipation across schools nationwide. The competition aims to identify the top Science and Maths talents from Senior High Schools, with winners from the preliminary stage advancing to the one-eighth stage.

At this stage, they will compete against the 27 seeded schools and 4 wild card entrants, who are non-seeded regional/zonal champions.

Preliminary Stage Schedule and Contests

The contests for the preliminary stage will take place from October 14 to October 17. A total of 42 contests are lined up, with three schools in each contest battling for a spot in the next round.

What to Expect in the One-Eighth Stage

Following the preliminaries, the winners will advance to the one-eighth stage, where they will be joined by the 27 seeded schools and 4 wild card entrants. The one-eighth stage will serve as a battleground to qualify for the quarterfinals, where the real contest for the prestigious NSMQ title begins. Schools that win their one-eighth stage contest to proceed to the quarterfinals will earn a seed for the next year’s competition, adding to the stakes.
