The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially reopened the Teacher Promotion Application Portal for the 2025 cycle, offering educators and education officers another vital opportunity for rank advancement. This follows several weeks of technical challenges that halted the earlier application process, leaving thousands of teachers uncertain about their promotion status.
With the relaunch now active, GES has introduced a new official portal, clarified eligibility requirements, and provided step-by-step instructions to guide applicants through the process. However, in light of recent events, there has been widespread confusion about which websites and portals are legitimate. This blog post aims to clarify the correct links and warn all GES staff about fraudulent websites currently in circulation.
NEW Official GES Promotion Portal Link for 2025
This is the current and only official link provided by the Ghana Education Service for the 2025 teacher promotion application process. All qualified applicants are required to submit their applications through this link before the deadline of Thursday, 9th October 2025.
When accessed, the link directs users to the GES-approved platform, where they can register, submit applications, upload required documents, and retrieve lost Application Codes.
Previous Links – What Happened?
Earlier in August 2025, when the application process was first opened, GES used a different short link:
📌 bit.ly/gespromotions2025
This was the initial official link provided by the Service. However, due to technical problems (including server overloads, slow response times, and verification errors), the application portal became unusable. As a result, GES temporarily shut down the process and later re-launched it using the new link: bit.ly/gespromotion25.
If you used the old link before the shutdown, note that all previous applications have been voided, and you must re-apply through the newly provided link.
FRAUD ALERT: Avoid These Fake Websites
Some websites are attempting to impersonate the official GES platforms to collect personal data from unsuspecting applicants. The most commonly reported one is:
📌 gespromotions.com/gov.gh
This site is not affiliated with the Ghana Education Service and is believed to be a fraudulent clone. Despite using a familiar-looking domain name, this site is managed privately by unknown individuals, and any data entered there is at serious risk of misuse.
Important Clarification:
- gespromotions.com/gov.gh = ❌ Fake and dangerous
- gespromotions.gov.gh = ✅ Old official GES portal (currently offline)
The “.gov.gh” extension is reserved for official government services in Ghana, and any site ending in “.com” (like gespromotions.com) is not under government control, regardless of how convincing it may appear.
Who Is Eligible to Apply?
Teachers and officers who meet the following criteria can apply for promotion to any of the following ranks:
- Deputy Director (DD)
- Assistant Director I (ADI)
- Assistant Director II (ADII)
- Principal Superintendent (PS)
Applicants must have been promoted to their current rank in 2021 or earlier and must have actively been at post since then (excluding those on approved leave). Specific eligibility timelines apply to each rank.

- The certificate must have been obtained in or before 2023.
- The certificate must not predate your last promotion.
