In a heartwarming display of generosity and commitment to education, the Honourable Minister and Member of Parliament, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, once again displayed his unwavering support for academic excellence.
This time, it was the brilliant minds of Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC), Legon, who reigned supreme in the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) competition.
Mr. Ablakwa, known for his dedication to uplifting the youth through education, ensured that the victorious NSMQ contestants received a special token of appreciation.
Despite the challenges in his Home Region, Volta, stemming from a flood incident, Mr. Ablakwa spared no effort in making sure that the talented students were rewarded. The joy and excitement were obvious as he gifted each of the four high-achieving PRESEC NSMQ contestants with their laptops of choice.
This year, the beneficiaries received four top-of-the-line HP laptops, affirming Mr. Ablakwa’s commitment to providing these young scholars with the tools they need to succeed in their educational journeys.
PRESEC, Legon, a perennial powerhouse in the NSMQ, had once again clinched the championship, securing their eighth title in the prestigious competition.
In a light-hearted and playful moment, Mr. Ablakwa could not resist a friendly jab at his close friend, John Dumelo. Mr. Dumelo is a passionate supporter of Achimota School, one of PRESEC’s worthy opponents in the 2023 NSMQ final.
Before the grand finale, Mr. Dumelo pledged to walk backward barefoot to PRESEC, Legon, in the event of PRESEC emerging victorious over his beloved Achimota School.
When the final scores were announced, it became evident that Mr. Dumelo would have to honor his promise as PRESEC triumphed over Achimota School. With the media capturing the moment, Mr. Dumelo gracefully and sportsmanlike lived up to his word, walking barefoot to PRESEC, Legon, to congratulate the winning team.
He also brought with him eight crates of eggs from his personal farm as a gesture of good sportsmanship and a way of accepting defeat with grace.
In this wonderful display of sportsmanship and camaraderie, we extend our gratitude to Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa for his consistent support and unwavering commitment to the advancement of education.
