In a recent media address following a meeting with the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs in Kumasi, Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum expressed his delight at the outstanding outcome of the 2023 Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).
The system has achieved a remarkable 95.60% placement rate into various Senior High, Technical, and Vocational Education and Training Institutions.
Dr. Adutwum highlighted the significant progress made in just three weeks, with the placement rate soaring from 81% to the current impressive figure. He attributed this success to the keen interest and confidence demonstrated by students, parents, and other stakeholders in the CSSPS.
The visit to the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs, at their invitation, provided the Education Minister with the opportunity to highlight the ongoing reforms in the nation’s education sector, particularly in the Ashanti region.
Presided over by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the meeting allowed for a comprehensive discussion on various policies and interventions implemented by the Ministry.
Commending the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders, Dr. Adutwum emphasized the importance of prudent measures put in place by the Ministry and other aligned agencies.
He expressed gratitude to parents for their cooperation throughout the placement process, acknowledging their role in the success of this year’s exercise.
The Minister outlined some of the positive developments in the education sector, stating, “We have new high schools under construction, and science labs are being built in existing schools. WASSCE scores have improved under Akufo-Addo. There is no doubt that we are seeing a major transformation. STEM education has been given a major boost.”
Acknowledging a few challenges encountered along the way, Dr. Adutwum reassured the public of the Ministry’s commitment to addressing these issues and continuing to implement strategic measures for the nation’s benefit.
Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II applauded Dr. Adutwum’s vision and dedication to transforming the nation through education. He pledged the support of the traditional authority in creating an enabling environment for improved education in all communities.
