To provide some context, Form 2 students in the single track system concluded their academic year on August 25, 2023, while Form 1 students are scheduled to finish on September 15, 2023. However, the uncertainty surrounding the reopening date has led to a flurry of inquiries from concerned parties.
The anticipation is building, and the question is on everyone’s mind: When will the single track Form 1 and 2 students reopen school for the 2024/2025 academic year? Students, parents, guardians, and teachers are all eager for answers.
Parents are understandably anxious, as they need to make preparations for their children’s return to school. Teachers, too, are eager to know the reopening date as they wrap up the semester and begin their own holidays.
Well, there is good news. The Ghana Education Service (GES) has now released the academic calendar for the 2023/2024 academic year for single-track Senior High Schools across the country. In this guide, we will take you through the newly revised reopening and vacation dates for all single-track schools in Ghana, according to the updated academic calendar.
1st Semester Reopening
According to the official calendar provided by the GES, the 1st semester of the academic year will begin for students in forms 2 and 3 on November 1. However, students in form 1 will start their 1st-semester session on December 4.
1st Semester Vacation
For the 1st semester, all Form 3 and Form 2 students will go on vacation on March 5, 2024, while Form 1 students will vacate on March 15, 2024. This means that these students will have nearly two months of vacation as the 1st semester concludes on March 5 and March 15, respectively.
2nd Semester Reopening
The second semester is set to commence on May 3, 2024, for all students in forms 1, 2, and 3. All three streams of students will return to school on the same day to kickstart activities for this semester.
2nd Semester Vacation
On August 28, 2024, all Form 2 and Form 1 students will begin their vacation for the 2nd semester. Meanwhile, Form 3 students will remain in school until they complete their West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) papers.
2023 WASSCE Date
It’s essential to note that the West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for all Senior High Schools in Ghana has been scheduled to commence in August or September 2024.
These dates provide clarity for students, parents, and educators, allowing them to plan accordingly for the upcoming academic year in single-track Senior High Schools across Ghana.
Please make sure to mark these dates in your calendar and prepare for a successful academic year. The GES is dedicated to providing quality education and ensuring a smooth academic experience for all students.
