Key figures in the education sector has given an update regarding the current status of negotiations surrounding the Collective Bargaining Agreement (Conditions of Service) for teachers in the Pre-Tertiary Education Sector. The message, delivered jointly by Thomas T. Musah, General Secretary of GNAT, Eric Agbe-Carbonu, President of NAGRAT, and King Ali Awudu, President of CCT-GH, sheds light on the evolving landscape of teachers’ working conditions.
As of August 2023, the existing Conditions of Service for teachers in the Pre-Tertiary Education Sector had officially expired. Acknowledging this, negotiations for a new and improved set of conditions have commenced. The Union leaders assured all teachers that their interests would be safeguarded and protected throughout the negotiation process.
Looking forward, the trio expressed optimism that the negotiation process would reach its conclusion by the end of February 2024. Once finalized, the details of the new Conditions of Service will be communicated to all teachers, ushering in a new chapter for educators in the Pre-Tertiary Education Sector.
