Leaders in the education sector have shed light on the ongoing negotiations for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (Conditions of Service) for teachers in the Pre-Tertiary Education Sector.

Spearheading this crucial process are Thomas T. The existing Conditions of Service, which have been the guiding principles for teachers, expired in August 2023. However, in response to this, negotiations for an updated and comprehensive agreement have already commenced. This news comes as a reassuring message to all teachers within the sector, with the leaders assuring them that their interests will be safeguarded and protected throughout this process.

“We want every teacher to rest assured that their concerns and needs are at the forefront of our negotiations. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that the new Conditions of Service reflect the dedication and hard work of our educators,” says Thomas T. Musah, the GNAT General Secretary.

The trio of leaders expressed optimism that the negotiations would reach completion by the end of February 2024. Following this, a comprehensive communication will be disseminated to all teachers, providing them with insights into the finalized agreement and what changes, if any, they can expect.

As the education sector looks forward to a new era with updated Conditions of Service, the commitment of these leaders remains same in ensuring a fair and favorable outcome for the teaching community. Stay tuned for further updates as the negotiation process unfolds.
