The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially announced the release date for the much-anticipated 2025 Senior High School (SHS), Senior High Technical School (SHTS), and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) placements.

At a press briefing held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, the Director-General of GES, Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, provided a detailed update on the school placement process following the release of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results for school candidates on August 23, 2025.

Placement Process Underway

According to Prof. Davis, the GES has begun processing data for the placement of successful BECE candidates into various second-cycle institutions across the country. He explained that placements will be matched against available vacancies in SHS, SHTS, and TVET schools. This process, he emphasized, is expected to take no more than three weeks, with the aim of ensuring smooth and timely placement for all candidates.

Key Dates to Note

Mr. Davies outlined a clear timeline of activities leading up to the release of placements and the resumption of first-year students.

• 1st – 8th September 2025: The Ministry of Education will open the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) portal. During this period, candidates will be able to review their entries, confirm school choices, gender, and other details.
• 9th September 2025: The Ministry will release explainer videos to guide candidates and parents on how to check placements online.
• 17th September 2025: The official date for the release of 2025 SHS/SHTS & TVET school placements. This is the date that students, parents, and stakeholders across the country have been eagerly awaiting.
• 18th September 2025: Call centres and district resolution centres will be set up nationwide to assist candidates who may encounter issues with their placement.
• 18th – 20th October 2025: First-year students are expected to report to their respective schools to begin the 2025/2026 academic year.

Assurance of Fair and Merit-Based Placement

The GES Director-General reassured parents, guardians, and candidates that the placement exercise would be conducted fairly and transparently. He stressed that the system is merit-based and built on principles of fairness, ensuring that every candidate has a fair chance based on performance and available vacancies.

Mr. Davies also cautioned against fraudulent activities, reminding the public that placement is completely free of charge. He urged stakeholders not to pay money to any individual or group promising to influence placements, emphasizing that such acts are illegal and unnecessary.

Steps to Check 2025 SHS/SHTS & TVET School Placement

1. Visit the official CSSPS placement portal.
2. Enter the 10-digit BECE Index Number followed by the last two digits of the examination year (e.g., 100000000025 for 2025).
3. Select or input the Date of Birth used during registration.
4. Click on the “Sign in” button to view the placement.

The system will then display the candidate’s assigned Senior High School, Technical, or Vocational institution.

Important Note for Candidates & Parents

• Ensure that the Index Number is entered correctly.
• Use the same Date of Birth provided during the BECE registration process.
• Check the placement early to avoid last-minute congestion on the website.
• Parents and guardians are encouraged to assist their wards in the process.
