The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially announced the reopening date for the first term of the 2023/2024 academic year for Basic Schools across the country.
In a letter dated September 13, addressed to all Regional Directors of Education, the GES has slated October 3 as the official reopening date KG, Primary and Junior High School students.
Students and teachers alike will have a brief 19-day vacation (including weekends) as the third term officially ends on September 14. The reason behind this quick return to school is to align the academic calendar with the pre-COVID-19 era.
In its official communication, GES urged Regional Directors of Education to promptly inform Metro / Municipal / District Directors of Education. The aim is to ensure that all Heads of Basic Schools communicate this reopening date to parents, guardians, and students so they can prepare accordingly for a smooth and effective academic year.
The letter, signed by Dr. Kwabena Bempah Tandoh, Deputy Director-General (Q&A) of GES, conveyed the service’s appreciation to all teaching and non-teaching staff for their unwavering support during the challenging period of the pandemic.
