In a recent development within the educational landscape of Ghana, the Headmistress of O’Reilly Senior High School (SHS), Nadia Lartechoe Annan, has been directed to step aside pending an investigation into the alleged unauthorized collection of money during the admission process.

This directive, issued on December 6, by Mr. Stephen Abamfo, Acting Director of Education for the Greater Accra Region, cites a violation of the school’s Code of Conduct.

The letter addressed to Ms. Annan states, “It has come to the notice of Management, the Collection of Unauthorized Monies at O’Reilly Senior High School as part of the admission process. Based on the above and as the Code of Conduct stipulates, you are to step aside for investigation to be conducted.”

As part of the protocol, Ms. Annan has been instructed to hand over all school property to the Municipal Director of Education, Ledzokuku. The latter will assume oversight responsibility during her absence throughout the investigative process.

The case at O’Reilly Senior High School is not an isolated incident, as the education regulatory body has taken similar actions elsewhere. In a parallel occurrence, the Headmistress of Ghana Senior High School (GHANASS) in Koforidua, Patience Naki Mensah, has also been interdicted by the GES. She faces allegations of selling unauthorized items to Form One students.

As investigations unfold at O’Reilly SHS and GHANASS, the outcomes will undoubtedly shape the future discourse on ethical conduct and financial transparency within Ghana’s educational institutions.
