In a bid to enhance organizational structure and streamline workforce alignment, the Ghana Education Service (GES) recently wrapped up a comprehensive three-day Scheme of Service document review and validation workshop. Supported by PwC Ghana, the management of GES spearheaded this initiative from Thursday, February 15th, to Saturday, February 17th, 2024.
The primary objective of the workshop was to refine the Scheme of Service, a crucial framework delineating job roles, responsibilities, career progression pathways, and essential skills and competencies across various staff categories within the Service. This structured document aims to provide clarity and direction to employees while ensuring seamless alignment with GES’s overarching objectives.
Integral to the workshop was the meticulous review of the GES Competency Framework. This framework serves as a systematic guide for defining, assessing, and managing the skills, behaviors, and knowledge requisite for optimal job performance within the Service. By aligning with the redesigned workforce, it endeavors to encapsulate core competencies essential for effective performance within GES.
The event witnessed active participation from key stakeholders, including GES Management, headquarters staff, Regional and District Directors, as well as representatives from prominent educational bodies such as the Conference of Heads of Basic Schools (CHOBS), Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS), Conference of Directors of Education (CODE), and Conference of Managers of Educational Units (COMEU), among others.
The collaborative nature of the workshop fostered insightful discussions and deliberations, ensuring that the Scheme of Service reflects the evolving needs of GES while embracing industry best practices. Participants engaged in robust exchanges, sharing valuable perspectives and expertise to enhance the efficacy of the framework.
By meticulously scrutinizing the Scheme of Service, GES endeavors to fortify its organizational infrastructure, optimize workforce capabilities, and bolster strategic alignment with its overarching goals. The culmination of this workshop marks a significant milestone in GES’s journey towards fostering excellence and innovation within the education sector.
