Ibrahim Kofi Sessah, a technician with the Local Government Service, has been granted bail in the sum of GH¢6.5 million by the Financial and Economic Division of the Accra High Court. This follows his plea of not guilty to multiple charges related to the alleged illegal sale of employment slots within the Ghana Education Service (GES).
The case, brought forward by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), accuses Sessah of using his public office for personal gain and bribing a public officer. Court documents reveal that he allegedly worked in collusion with Anthony Gyasi, an IT Officer at the GES Head Office, to illegally profit from the sale of appointment letters to hopeful teacher applicants.
Between January 2022 and December 2023, over GH¢6 million was reportedly deposited into Sessah’s Zenith Bank account from these unlawful transactions. In addition, he is said to have collected GH¢580,000 in cash from around 100 individuals, under the false promise of securing them positions in the GES.
As part of the bail conditions, Sessah is required to present two sureties who must justify the bail amount with landed properties situated within the Greater Accra Region.
The court has also instructed the prosecution to disclose all relevant materials within 21 days, with the case set to return for mention on June 3, 2025.
