In an important development aimed at enhancing the welfare of its workforce, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued a directive requesting submissions of outstanding applications for staff upgrading. This directive, dated 25th April 2025, comes as part of ongoing efforts to ensure that both teaching and non-teaching personnel receive due recognition for their academic advancements.
The communication, signed by Hajia Katumi Natogmah Attah, Director of Education for the Greater Accra Region, calls on all Metro, Municipal, and District Directors of Education to inform their staff to submit necessary documentation for upgrading. The GES emphasizes that all staff who have acquired their first degrees — regardless of when the certificate was awarded and the number of years served — are eligible to apply.
Required Documents
Applicants are required to attach copies of the following documents to their application letters:
- First degree certificate
- Brochure of graduation
- Ticked name of applicant in the graduation list
- First appointment letter
- Study leave letter (where applicable)
- Payslip
- Personal record form
Submission Deadline
All outstanding applications are to be submitted through their respective Metro, Municipal, or District Education Offices to the Regional Education Office by Wednesday, 30th April 2025.
GES management seeks the cooperation and support of all staff to ensure a smooth and timely upgrading process. This move not only serves to recognize the academic achievements of staff but also reflects the service’s commitment to career development and motivation across the education sector.
