The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially announced the reinstatement of Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) in all pre-tertiary institutions across the country. This decision, which affects all Public Senior High, Technical, and STEM schools, follows a directive from the President of the Republic, H.E. John Dramani Mahama.
According to a press release issued by the Public Relations Unit of GES on July 17, 2025, the move is intended to strengthen collaboration between parents, communities, and teachers to enhance the delivery of quality education to Ghanaian learners.
GES management has directed all heads of the affected schools to begin operationalizing the reinstatement of PTAs with immediate effect. This reinstatement is expected to increase the involvement of stakeholders in educational activities and create a more inclusive environment for student development.
The GES also indicated that detailed guidelines outlining the structure, roles, and financial accountability mechanisms for PTAs will be issued in due course. These guidelines aim to ensure transparency, uniformity, and efficiency in the functioning of PTAs nationwide.
