GES Study Leave Without Pay | Consequences & repercussions

The Management of the Ghana Education Service has outlined some consequences of embarking on study leave without pay for teachers in the Service.

This comes after the Ghana Education Service released the qualifications and deadline for teachers planning on securing a study leave with pay.

According to the Service, interested applicants have been urged to pick up their study leave with pay forms at the Registry.

All completed forms should reach the Municipal Education Office (Training Officer’s Desk) early for onward submission to the Regional Directorate.

GES has however cautioned teachers who willingly decide to go on study leave without pay without obtaining the necessary ‘blessing’ from the Service.

For this reason, the Management of GES has outlined a number of consequences for such teachers who take these ‘bold’ moves.

Consequences of going on study leave without pay in GES

According to the official release by the Management of GES, teachers who proceed on study leave without pay stand to face the following consequences;

1. Loss of salary and SSNIT contribution.

2. Denial of outright posting after course.

3. Challenges of re-engagement, especially through replacement where a staff number is required.

4. Denial of promotion while in school.

5. Years in school not counted as years of service.
