In 2018 when the Council brought about the writing of the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination, the cost of fresh candidates sitting for all three papers; Literacy, Essential Skills and Numeracy stood at GH¢ 220.
In the subsequent years of the examination, NTC increased the registration cost for fresh students from GH¢ 220 to GH¢ 280 to sit for the examination.
Candidates who could not sail through the examination successfully for the previous year(s) were required to pay GH¢ 150 for one re-sit paper.
On the other hand, candidates sitting for two failed papers paid an amount of GH¢ 250 to register and partake in the examination.
In an official communiqué released by NTC and sighted by GESHub.org, the Council has astronomically increased the cost of registering and sitting for all three subjects.
Releasing the official cost for writing this year’s examination, NTC has stated that fresh candidates are required to pay GH¢ 350 to register for the examination.
Candidates who are re-sitting a paper, two or all three, are to pay GH¢ 150, GH¢ 210 and GH¢ 350 respectively.
This figure shows a whopping 59% increase (from GH¢ 220 to GH¢ 350) in the cost of fresh and three-paper re-sit candidate’s registration.
However, there has been a reduction of 16% (from GH¢ 250 to GH¢ 210) in the cost of re-sitting for two papers for the examination.
