Excitement is building up in the world of Ghanaian education and science enthusiasts as the 2023 edition of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) is set to take place in Kumasi at the prestigious Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, often referred to simply as KNUST, is one of Ghana’s leading academic institutions and has long been recognized for its commitment to excellence in science and technology education.
Established in 1952, KNUST has consistently produced some of the country’s finest scientists, engineers, and mathematicians. The university’s emphasis on research and innovation has contributed significantly to the advancement of science and technology in Ghana and beyond.
The decision to host the 2023 NSMQ at KNUST is a natural choice given the university’s track record and its state-of-the-art facilities. Note: There are twenty-seven seeded schools from last year’s NSMQ National Championship that are waiting to be paired with any of the above-listed schools, should they perform well in the next round of the competition.
A Seeded School in the NSMQ is simply a school that makes it from the preliminary stages of the competition to the one-eighth and to the quarter-finals.
What this implies is that, all the various schools that win their one-eighth stage contest automatically qualify as a seeded school for the next year.
The relieving thing about being a seeded school in the NSMQ is that, as other schools battle their way from the various regional championship competition, the seeded schools just await them in the National championship.
