The well-deserved Christmas break for Basic schools in Ghana has come to an end, and students are ready to dive back into the rhythm of school life, embarking on a new chapter in their academic journey.
The joyous reunions with friends and the return to the familiar hum of school activities mark the commencement of the second term of the 2023/24 academic year, starting today, January 9, and extending through to April 11.
The classrooms, dormant during the holidays, are set to come alive with the exchange of knowledge and the vibrant energy of curious minds exploring new horizons.
Looking ahead, the academic calendar unfolds with a well-structured plan for the remainder of the school year. The second term vacation is scheduled from April 12 to April 29, providing a brief interlude for everyone to recharge and prepare for the final leg of the academic journey.
The third and final term is set to commence on April 30 and will run until July 25, marking the culmination of the 2023/24 academic year. As the academic year draws to a close, schools will vacate on July 25, allowing students, teachers, and staff a moment to reflect on their achievements and look forward to the promising horizon of the next academic year.
As schools resume their activities, a few key points merit attention. The structured school hours, comprising seven hours a day with six contact hours and a one-hour break, ensure a balanced and productive learning environment.
Additionally, the Ghana Education Service plans to conduct the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the months of September/October, a crucial assessment of the knowledge and skills of Junior High School students.
