Tamale Islamic Science School has secured a resounding victory in the Northern Zonal Championship of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) 2023. This prestigious contest brought together four esteemed schools from the Northern Region, with each vying for the title of the best science school in the region.
The competition consisted of four intense rounds and featured some of the region’s educational giants, including Tamale SHS, St. Francis Xavier Seminary, and Ghana SHS, Tamale.
Round 1
The first round set the stage for an intense battle, with each team striving to gain an early advantage. Tamale SHS took the lead with 15 points, closely followed by Tamale Islamic Science SHS with 13 points. St. Francis Xavier Junior Seminary and Ghana SHS, Tamale trailed behind with 7 and 6 points, respectively.
Round 2
As the competition progressed into the second round, Tamale Islamic Science SHS demonstrated their exceptional knowledge and determination, overtaking Tamale SHS with a score of 17 points. Tamale SHS followed closely with 13 points, while St. Francis Xavier Junior Seminary managed to close the gap with 11 points. Ghana SHS, Tamale remained steady at 6 points.
Round 3
The third round proved to be a pivotal moment, as the teams battled fiercely to secure their positions. Tamale Islamic Science SHS maintained their lead with an impressive score of 27 points, while Tamale SHS continued to trail closely with 26 points. St. Francis Xavier Junior Seminary displayed commendable performance, accumulating 18 points, and Ghana SHS, Tamale remained determined with 7 points.
Round 4
As the contest reached its climax, Tamale Islamic Science SHS solidified their dominance, ultimately emerging as the well-deserved champions with a final score of 30 points. Tamale SHS put up a valiant effort and secured the second position with 26 points. St. Francis Xavier Junior Seminary claimed the third position with 21 points. Ghana SHS, Tamale displayed their dedication throughout the competition and concluded with 10 points.
