In a heartfelt tribute to a trailblazer, the governing Council of Takoradi Technical University has officially named the university’s expansive auditorium after the distinguished Dr. Nicholas Aidoo-Taylor, the institution’s first Principal.
This monumental decision was made to recognize Dr. Taylor’s pioneering contributions during his tenure from 1993 to 2003 at what was then known as Takoradi Polytechnic.
Dr. Aidoo-Taylor’s transformative leadership played an important role in shaping the institution’s infrastructure, leaving an indelible mark that continues to resonate. His visionary initiatives included the development of the ultra-modern auditorium and the establishment of the B.U Campus, both of which have become integral to the university’s identity.
Under his guidance, Takoradi Polytechnic witnessed the introduction of groundbreaking programs such as Civil Engineering, Visual Arts, Marketing, Purchasing and Supply, Statistics, Furniture Design, and Construction. These programs have evolved and endured, remaining as key offerings at the Technical University level.
In a poignant ceremony, the embossment of the newly christened Nicholas Aidoo-Taylor Auditorium was jointly unveiled by Dr. Robert Adjaye, a representative of the Governing Council, and the Vice Chancellor of TTU, Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun.
Dr. Adjaye commended Dr. Taylor for his exceptional leadership and expressed the council’s hope that this acknowledgment would inspire others to make a lasting impact in their respective fields.
“We hope and pray that we are honoring the good deeds of Mr. Taylor and also those who helped him to offer this service to the university. We also hope and pray that this will serve as an example for all here to encourage us to leave some indelible mark wherever we are so that our descendants can walk in our footsteps,” he remarked.
Representing the Aidoo-Taylor family, the Ebusuapayin and brother of Dr. Taylor conveyed their heartfelt appreciation to the institution for bestowing this honor upon their beloved family member.
“We are very pleased to be here to represent my dear brother, Nicholas Aidoo-Taylor, for the hard work he did for the school… I thank you all for honoring my brother,” he expressed with gratitude.
Dr. Nicholas Aidoo-Taylor’s legacy extends beyond infrastructure development and program innovation. He is also credited with spearheading a robust staff development and recruitment strategy that led to a remarkable increase in Senior Members—from four in 1993 to over fifty by the end of his ten-year tenure.
