The Management of the Ghana Education Service has outlined the different types of transfers within the Service.
According to GES, there are three (3) different forms of transfers and each one of it has its own required documents to be submitted for approval.
The different forms of transfers within the Ghana Education Service are:
- Intra-district transfer
- Inter-district transfer
- Inter-regional transfer
In this guide, we will explain all the three different types of transfers so that teachers can make a well-informed decision on which one to opt for.
GES intra-district transfer
This form of transfer refers to the transfer which is within the same district. A teacher who seeks for this transfer simply wants to be moved from his/her current school to a different one within the same district.
Being one of the easiest transfers to be approved, such transfers are mostly handled by the District Director of Education within the District from which the teacher wants to be transferred from.
GES inter-district transfer
Within the Ghana Education Service, an inter-district transfer refers to the transfer where a teacher is moved from his/her current district to another one.
Teachers seeking this type of transfer will have to contact their District Education office to seek further information about how it is done there as the process differs from each district.
GES inter-regional Transfer
This is the most difficult transfer to be granted. A teacher seeking to get an inter-regional transfer must give the Service a very tangible reason to be granted this form of transfer.
Inter-regional transfer refers to the transfer where a teacher is moved from the region he/she currently is, to another region.
Such transfers are generally granted/approved by the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service.
