The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially opened its portal for the registration of candidates for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for both School and Private candidates, as well as the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School candidates and the General and Advanced Business Certificate Examination (G/ABCE) for the year 2024.
Registration for the BECE for School & Private Candidates, 2024 began on Monday, 11th March, 2024, and will remain open until Friday, 19th April, 2024. It is imperative for all parties involved to take note of these deadlines as late entries may not be accommodated due to test security reasons.
The BECE for School and Private Candidates, 2024 is scheduled to take place from Monday, 8th to Friday, 12th July, 2024. Stakeholders are strongly advised to adhere strictly to these timelines to ensure a smooth registration process.
In preparation for the registration, the Council conducted briefing sessions for all stakeholders involved in the registration process. These sessions were held from Tuesday, 20th to Friday, 23rd February, 2024, to provide necessary guidance and information.
A significant change to be noted is the introduction of the common core curriculum. School Candidates for BECE will now undergo a different examination format compared to Private Candidates. While School candidates will be assessed based on the common core curriculum, Private candidates will adhere to the old syllabus. Therefore, all private candidates are urged to exercise caution when selecting their subjects during registration.
In conclusion, WAEC emphasizes the importance of timely registration and adherence to the specified deadlines. For further information and registration guidelines, candidates and stakeholders are encouraged to visit the official WAEC portal.
Stay informed, stay prepared, and best wishes to all candidates undertaking the 2024 examinations.
