Despite ongoing discussions and appeals from the Teacher Unions and the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, the Computerized School Selection and Placement System stands firm, with students scheduled to report to their assigned schools today, December 4.
Addressing concerns surrounding the strict reporting date, Kwesi Kwarteng, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, assured parents and students during a recent interview that attendance on the specified day is not compulsory.
In a flexible approach, he emphasized that students have the liberty to report the following day or even the following week without risking the loss of their school placement.
In a bid to facilitate a smooth transition for the incoming SHS Form 1 students, the Ghana Education Service has directed the Heads of Senior High Schools and Senior High Technical Schools to commence registration and orientation immediately upon the students’ official reporting to school.
For those wondering about the upcoming academic calendar, it reveals an exciting journey ahead. A well-deserved Christmas break is scheduled from December 21, with classes set to resume on January 3, 2024.
