Monday, 3rd July 2023 marked a significant day in the field of education in Ghana as the much-anticipated STEMNNOVATION 2023 was officially launched. The event was graced by esteemed personalities, including Dr. Eric Nkansah, the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), and the Honorable Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.
STEMNNOVATION is an annual inter-school competition designed specifically for Senior High Schools, Senior High Technical Schools, and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) schools. It aims to foster a spirit of innovation, creativity, and critical thinking among students while promoting the importance of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education.
The theme for this year’s competition is “Future-Proofing Socio-Economic Development in Ghana through STEM Education.” This theme highlights the crucial role that STEM education plays in preparing the youth for the challenges and opportunities of the future. It emphasizes the need to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to contribute to Ghana’s socio-economic development in a rapidly changing world.
During the launch event, Dr. Eric Nkansah took the stage to address the audience. In his speech, he expressed his appreciation to all the teachers, parents, and stakeholders who have played diverse roles in making STEMNNOVATION a success. He acknowledged their dedication and commitment to nurturing young minds and fostering a passion for STEM subjects among students.
