The Controller and Accountant General’s Department has sent a very urgent and important message to all teachers as well as government workers on payroll regarding their default phone number on file.
It can be recalled that at the latter part of last year, the CAGD introduced new security features to both E-payslip and Third-Party Reference System (TPRS) platforms.
The Third-Party Reference System (TPRS) is the system that enable Teachers Union, Loan Companies, Insurance companies etc. to deduct money directly from public workers whose salary passes through the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department.
With the all new e-payslip dashboard, public sector workers on the Government of Ghana Electronic Payslip (E-payslip) platform can perform the following activities;
- Subscribe to third party financial institutions and make request for a QUICK LOAN.
- Request a Change of bank.
- Generate and view Tier Two pension deductions.
- View deductions from third-party agencies.
- Leave of absence.
- Study leave with pay.
- Break in service.
This upgrade brought about major setbacks on the payroll system which included,
- deduction of employee’s affordability
- removal of validated profile pictures of employees
- issues with changing / resetting password
- inability to change association
- change of phone number problems etc.
The hardest hit by this upgrade is the removal of the ‘change telephone number’ option that allows teachers and government workers on the Controller’s payroll to change their phone number.
With the hope that this option will be made available once CAGD is done with its upgrade, this has not been the case.
It is as a result of this development that CAGD has notified all employees on payroll that henceforth, a request for telephone number change and any other request that requires termination of E-payslip user account shall be made in writing.
Thus, any employee on the government of Ghana’s payroll who wishes to change their contact number on the GoG platform will have to write a letter to request the change.
According to CAGD, such letters shall be accompanied by a letter from the HOD / HR and supported by a copy of the Ghana card / SSNIT card.
The letter must then be submitted to any CAGD Regional office for onward submission to the Treasury Headquarters.
It is only after this process that the Controller and Accountant’s General Department will initiate a change of phone number for any employee on the payroll system.
Members on the payroll system are urged to take this notice serious and comply with the directive for faster and smooth transition of the all new GoG e-payslip.
Simple steps to update or change phone number on payslip
- Write a ‘change of phone number‘ request letter to CAGD
- Attach a letter from the HOD / HR on same matter
- Add a copy of your Ghana card / SSNIT card
- Submit to any CAGD Regional office for onward submission to the Treasury Headquarters.
