The Ghana Education Service (GES) has unveiled the revised academic calendar for the 2023/2024 academic year, specifically tailored for single-track Senior High Schools in the country.
In this blog post, we will provide you with a comprehensive breakdown of the new reopening and vacation dates for all single-track schools in Ghana.
1st Semester Reopening
According to the official calendar released by the GES, the 1st semester of the academic year is set to kick off as follows:
- Forms 2 & 3: These students will return to school on November 1, 2023.
- Form 1: First-year students, on the other hand, are scheduled to report to school and commence their 1st-semester session on December 4, 2023.
1st Semester Vacation
The 1st semester vacation dates for single-track schools are as follows:
- Forms 3 and 2: These students will vacate for the first semester on March 5, 2024.
- Form 1: First-year students will begin their vacation slightly later, on March 15, 2024.
This means that Form 3, Form 2, and Form 1 students will enjoy a well-deserved break of nearly 2 months as schools go on recess for the 1st semester, with their vacation periods spanning from March 5 to March 15, respectively.
2nd Semester Reopening
As we move on to the 2nd semester, the reopening date for all Form 1, Form 2, and Form 3 students is marked on May 3, 2024. This is the day when all these students will return to school to resume their academic activities for the 2nd semester.
2nd Semester Vacation
The 2nd semester vacation date for Form 2 and Form 1 students is set for August 28, 2024. Form 3 students, however, will continue their studies until they complete their West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
2023 WASSCE Date
It’s important to note that the West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for all Senior High Schools in Ghana is scheduled to commence in August/September 2024.
