The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially announced the dates for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates. This update was communicated in a directive issued to all Regional Directors of Education.
According to the GES, the examination schedules for the 2025 academic year are as follows:
2025 BECE & WASSCE dates
- BECE (School Candidates): From 9th June to 16th June 2025
- WASSCE (School Candidates): From 4th August to 19th September 2025
This announcement is in line with efforts to keep all heads of basic and senior high/technical schools informed about the key timelines for preparing their candidates.
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) will follow up by communicating the specific registration periods for candidates. Regional Directors of Education are urged to pass this information on to Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Directors of Education, who are in turn expected to notify school heads. This ensures that all schools are adequately prepared for the examinations.
The letter was signed by Mr. Prince Charles Agyemang-Duah, Director of the Schools and Instructions Division, on behalf of the GES Director-General. Copies of the letter were also sent to key stakeholders, including the GES Council Chairman and the Head of the National Office of WAEC.
The Ghana Education Service emphasizes the importance of timely preparation by schools and encourages all institutions to adhere to the specified timelines. Students, teachers, and parents are also advised to take note of these dates and work towards ensuring a smooth examination process.
