The National Council of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has made a significant decision that will impact every member of the association. In a recent resolution, the council has unanimously agreed to raise the monthly contribution to the GNAT Mutual Fund from GH¢50 to GH¢100.
This decision, reached at a National Council meeting held at GNAT Village-Abankro, Ejisu, from Tuesday, September 26th, to Friday, September 29th, 2023, represents a substantial increase in the minimum contribution to the Mutual Fund. The new contribution amount of GH¢100 will come into effect starting January 2024.
One key aspect of this resolution is that the deduction of the increased contribution will be carried out at the source by the Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD). This means that GNAT members need not worry about making separate payments; the contribution will be automatically deducted from their salaries.
The National Council, which serves as the second highest decision-making body of the Ghana National Association of Teachers, has taken this step to strengthen the GNAT Mutual Fund. The Fund plays a crucial role in providing financial support and security to GNAT members, ensuring their well-being in various aspects of life.
