The Ghana Education Service (GES) has taken proactive steps to address concerns and challenges raised during the 2024 graduate recruitment exercise. As part of its commitment to transparency and fairness, GES has announced the availability of a direct channel for applicants to seek redress and submit queries. This initiative ensures that all applicants, particularly those who have faced difficulties during the recruitment process, have access to prompt assistance and clear communication.
Addressing Applicant Concerns
The 2024 recruitment exercise, which received a staggering 38,748 applications, saw only 11,665 candidates meeting the minimum qualifications for teaching positions. While GES has begun issuing appointment letters in batches, the process faced criticism earlier when applicants expressed dissatisfaction over perceived issues such as technical glitches, delays, and alleged bias.
To address these concerns and rebuild trust, GES has established a dedicated email platform where applicants can submit their complaints, seek clarification, and receive guidance on unresolved matters.
How to Use the GES Redress Channel
Applicants who wish to raise concerns or seek assistance can do so by contacting GES directly via the official email: hrsecretariat@ges.gov.gh. This platform serves as a centralized system for applicants to communicate with the recruitment management team.
The GES has encouraged all applicants to utilize this channel for:
- Issues with accessing the recruitment portal or appointment letters.
- Questions about the recruitment process or qualifications.
- Concerns about their application status or alleged errors.
By opening this channel, GES ensures that every applicant is given an opportunity to have their grievances addressed transparently.
Recruitment in Batches
As part of the 2024 exercise, GES is releasing appointment letters in batches to manage the large number of qualified applicants. Successful candidates will be notified via text message when their letters are ready. Applicants are then required to visit the recruitment portal (gespromotions.gov.gh) to check their postings and download their letters.
For those experiencing delays or difficulties with this process, the newly established redress channel provides a reliable avenue for resolution.
Building Transparency and Accountability
This direct communication initiative reflects GES’s commitment to maintaining fairness and addressing concerns in a timely manner. The introduction of the email redress system comes after public backlash earlier in the recruitment process, with some applicants alleging favoritism and inefficiency. By opening up a transparent platform for dialogue, GES demonstrates its dedication to ensuring all applicants are treated fairly.
Conclusion
The Ghana Education Service has shown its commitment to inclusivity and fairness by establishing a direct channel for addressing recruitment-related concerns. Graduate applicants are urged to make use of the email platform (hrsecretariat@ges.gov.gh) for any unresolved issues and follow the batch notification process for their appointment letters.
This development marks another step forward in ensuring a transparent and efficient recruitment process that benefits both applicants and the education sector as a whole. For further updates, applicants are advised to stay connected through GES’s official website and social media platforms.
