John Dumelo, an Achimota Secondary School alumnus and National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, is not shy about his support for his alma mater.
In a tweet, he confidently stated that Presec Legon could not possibly beat Achimota in the NSMQ23. He even made a bold promise – to walk barefoot backward from Ayawaso West Wuogon to Presec School if they managed to outshine his beloved Achimota.
In his tweet, Dumelo expressed his pride as an Achimotan and brushed off any concerns about Presec’s dominance. It is clear that the passion and loyalty of alumni like him play a significant role in fueling the school’s determination to claim the NSMQ23 crown.
His tweet comes at the back of a petition that was filed by Prempeh College, contesting the semifinal results of the NSMQ23. The dispute centered on the match between Prempeh College, Opoku Ware, and Pope John Senior High School, which determined the last finalist. Prempeh College raised concerns about the results, leading to a social media uproar.
However, the management of Primetime, the organizers of the National Science and Maths Quiz, firmly defended the decision of the Quiz Mistress and asserted that Prempeh College had not been cheated, as some had claimed.
