In a surprising revelation at the 147th speech and prize-giving day, the headmaster of Mfantsipim School in Cape Coast, Ebenezer Kobina Aidoo, disclosed a pressing issue the institution is facing – a staggering debt of over GH¢204,000 owed to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
The financial strain has left the esteemed second-cycle school in a state of distress, unable to settle its electricity bills. Aidoo shed light on the dire situation, attributing the crisis to a shortfall in government payments.
Highlighting the severity of the issue, Aidoo disclosed that the government has only fulfilled half of its financial commitment, leaving an outstanding amount of GH¢115,000. The headmaster expressed his concern and frustration, emphasizing the urgent need for support to alleviate the school from its power crisis.
In a bid to overcome this financial hurdle, Aidoo appealed to the parents of Mfantsipim School students for assistance. The call for support is not only aimed at settling the outstanding electricity bills but also at ensuring the uninterrupted provision of quality education to the students.
Aidoo’s plea extended beyond the immediate financial concerns. He urged the government to redefine its strategies to sustainably deliver quality education to the country’s youth.
The headmaster emphasized the important role of the government in shaping the educational landscape and called for a collaborative effort to secure a brighter future for the students.
