Official SHS Reporting Date for 2025/2026 BECE Candidates – Check Here

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially released the 2025/2026 academic calendar for all Senior High Schools (SHS) across the country, providing clarity for BECE graduates and their guardians. Of key interest to the public is the reporting date for newly admitted Form 1 students (SHS 1), who will begin their secondary school journey in the upcoming academic year.

SHS 1 Official Reporting Date: 18th – 20th October 2025

According to the academic calendar, all Form 1 students—both transitional and single-track—are expected to report to school during the period 18th to 20th October 2025. This marks the beginning of their senior high school education, and it falls within the designated re-opening week for SHS 1.

Track System Information

There are two track systems operating concurrently in Ghana’s SHS framework:

Transitional Academic Calendar (Double Track System)
Single Track Academic Calendar

Regardless of the track system, Form 1 students in both calendars are to report within the same window (18th–20th October 2025), as clearly outlined in the notes section of both academic calendars.

Academic Structure for Form 1 – Transitional Calendar

First Semester:

In School: 18th October 2025 – 30th January 2026
(9 weeks onsite + 4 weeks offsite/blended learning)
Break: 31st January – 15th March 2026

Second Semester:

In School: 16th March – 12th June 2026
(9 weeks onsite + 4 weeks offsite)
Break: 13th June – 2nd July 2026

Third Term:

In School: 3rd July – 4th September 2026

End of Academic Year: 4th September 2026

Academic Structure for Form 1 – Single Track Calendar

First Semester:

In School: 18th October 2025 – 27th February 2026 (17 weeks)
Break: 20th December 2025 – 4th January 2026

Second Semester:

In School: 4th May – 21st August 2026 (16 weeks)

End of Academic Year: 21st August 2026

Important Notes for Parents & Students

Travel Period: 20th – 22nd December 2025
Christmas Break: 20th December 2025 – 4th January 2026
Next Academic Year: Tentatively begins on 11th September 2026

Final Reminder

All 2025 BECE graduates placed in SHS are required to report between 18th and 20th October 2025. Parents are advised to prepare accordingly, ensuring students are ready for a successful start to their high school education.
