In a proactive move aimed at enhancing student welfare, the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) has announced a Mass NHIS Registration & Renewal Exercise. This initiative, spearheaded by the SRC, seeks to ensure that students have easy access to healthcare services through the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
The registration and renewal exercise offers students the opportunity to either register for the NHIS for the first time or renew their existing membership. Notably, the exercise is entirely free of charge, emphasizing the SRC’s commitment to promoting student well-being without financial barriers.
To facilitate the process, the SRC has organized schedules across various halls and locations on campus. Each schedule spans two days, running from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Students are required to present a valid ID card for registration, while those renewing their membership must provide their previous registration card and NHIS card number.
Here is the breakdown of the schedules:
| Hall | Dates |
|---|---|
| Kwame Nkrumah | 14th – 15th February |
| Casely Hayford | 16th & 19th February |
| Superannuation | 20th – 21st February |
| SRC | 22nd – 23rd February |
| UHMS | 24th February |

The SRC encourages all students to take advantage of this opportunity to secure NHIS membership and ensure access to quality healthcare services. By providing accessible registration points and a straightforward process, the SRC aims to support the health and well-being of the student body.
For further inquiries or assistance, students are advised to reach out to the UCC SRC. Let us all participate in this vital exercise and prioritize our health for a brighter and healthier academic journey.
