In the world of education in Ghana, anticipation is building as students, parents, and educators eagerly await the release of the results for this year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and the Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE).
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has been working diligently to ensure a smooth process, but the release of these results hinges on an essential factor: the timely release of funds by the government.
However, the timeline for the release of results begins with the coordination of examiners, a process that commenced on Wednesday, October 4, and is set to conclude by October 7.
Marking is slated to begin on Monday, October 9. It is a significant task, considering that WAEC has more than 22,000 examiners to pay.
The current concern is that without the timely release of government funds, WAEC may struggle to complete the entire process, which would, in turn, affect their ability to compensate examiners for their work. This apprehension has been conveyed to the government, and it is hoped that they will keep their promise to release funds promptly.
The release of examination results, both for BECE and WASSCE, is contingent on the government’s release of funds. WAEC has tentatively targeted the last week of October 2023 for the release of BECE results.
