The past few weeks have been nothing short of overwhelming and exhausting for candidates eagerly awaiting the release of this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
With the anticipation mounting, the excitement has reached a fever pitch as these students are eager to discover the Senior High School they have been placed in. The official academic calendar for the 2023/2024 academic year for freshers is set to kick off on December 4, 2023, adding to the sense of urgency.
To facilitate the process, the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service and the Free Senior High School Secretariat, has made available school placement checker vouchers.
These vouchers are essential for candidates to check the placement of their candidates online once the results are released. Now, having secured these vital vouchers, the burning question on everyone’s mind is, “When will the school placement portal go live?”
The truth is, as of the time of crafting this blog post, the Computerized School Selection and Placement (CSSPS) portal is not yet live, and the exact release date remains unknown. However, assurances from the Ministry of Education, GES, and the Free SHS Secretariat provide hope that the portal will be activated soon.
In the meantime, candidates, parents, stakeholders, and the general public are urged to remain calm. Final preparations are underway to ensure the seamless activation of the portal, allowing students and their families to promptly check the schools to which they have been assigned.

How to buy CSSPS School Placement Checker Using Short Code
- Dial *800*055# on your mobile phone
- Choose ‘School Placement Checker’
- Confirm price and description and enter 1
- Authorize payment via Mobile Money
- You will receive the checker card via SMS with instructions to check the results on your phone.
Steps to buy CSSPS School Placement Checker Online
- Visit ResultsChecker.com.gh with your smartphone or PC
- Choose the card type you want to buy. e.g.: CSSPS Placement Checker
- Enter the number of cards you want to buy, and the amount will be automatically calculated.
- Click on “Buy Now”
- You will be taken to a new screen where you enter your name and phone number (Card details will be sent via SMS to the phone number you enter here)
- Click on “Proceed to Payment”
- On the next screen, choose Mobile Money and enter your MoMo number. You will be sent an OTP to confirm.
- Confirm the payment on your phone.
- You will instantly receive an SMS with the Placement Checker details and instructions to check.
Checking Your Placement
Once you have your results checker voucher in hand, follow these straightforward steps to check, print, or download your Senior High School placement:

- Obtain a placement pin code from an approved vendor on this page.
- After obtaining a pin code, log onto the site cssps.gov.gh
- Enter the ten-digit index number and add 23 as year of completion. Eg: 123456789023
- Enter the pin code details (serial number and pin)
- Click on submit and wait for placement to be displayed
- Print the form if you have been placed and visit the school to begin admission process
- System will redirect you for self-placement, if not placed
Self/Manual Placement
In the event that a candidate is not automatically placed, there is an option for self/manual placement. Follow these steps:

If a candidate is not matched with any of their choices from the automatic placement system, they will be redirected to the self-placement portal.
A qualified Candidate is then required to select a school by providing the under-listed information:
- Region
- Residential preference
- School
- Programme of Choice.
Note: Schools selected on self-placement portal can be changed as many times as the candidate wishes until they enroll in a school. All schools with vacancies have been uploaded on the portal, to enable students to select from during self-placement.
