In a thrilling showdown of intellect and wit, the 2023 edition of the National Championship of the National Science and Maths Quiz came to a spectacular close on Monday, October 30. The event, hosted at a prestigious venue, saw some of Ghana’s most brilliant young minds compete for the coveted championship title.
After five intense rounds of competition, it was clear that one school had risen above the rest – Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School, Legon, affectionately known as PRESEC, claimed the championship, securing their eighth NSMQ title. PRESEC’s previous victories occurred in 1995, 2003, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2020, 2022, and now 2023.
The competition was fierce, and the scores fluctuated throughout, showcasing the remarkable knowledge and quick thinking of these young scholars. Here’s a breakdown of the final scores at the end of each round:

The final round of the competition showcased PRESEC’s unwavering dominance as they clinched the championship with 40 points. Achimota School put up a commendable fight and secured second place with 28 points, while Opoku Ware School finished in third place with 23 points.
The victory marks PRESEC’s eighth NSMQ championship, a testament to their dedication to excellence and their ability to consistently excel in the fields of science and mathematics. It was a moment of glory for PRESEC, their students, teachers, and supporters who have worked tirelessly to nurture and develop young talents in these academic domains.
